Origin

Origin and its advanced version OriginPro: the ultimate solution for analyzing and visualizing experimental data.

Discover Origin, a reliable and powerful solution, offering a palette of processing, analysis, visualization and automation tools that will make your life easier every day.

Origin is a complete data analysis and graphing tool providing a range of features (peak analysis, curve fitting, statistics…) to meet the quality requirements and specific needs of the scientific community (researchers, engineers, technicians…). Origin exists in two versions: Origin Standard and Origin Pro.

With Origin Standard, focus on your work rather than on fully mastering the tool. With its wide range of tools, get your analysis in a few clicks without having to manipulate your data cell by cell.

With Origin Pro, take advantage of the same features as Origin Standard, completed with a more advanced set of tools in peak analysis, curve and area fitting, statistics, signal processing and image manipulation.

5 good reasons to use this software

  • Import of data to the final report
  • Flexibility for data analysis
  • Wide choice of publication quality charts
  • Automation of repetitive tasks
  • Connectivity with Excel, Matlab, LabView, Python, R…

I learned more from this training than I expected. The trainer introduced us to elements and functions of the software that we hadn’t even thought of! Nothing but positive things.

Features

An « all-in-one » solution

Origin is a complete solution:

  • Import the raw data from your experiments with the many formats available: .csv, .dat, .xls, . spc, and many others
  • Manipulate your data to make it easily usable
  • Perform all your analyses, calculations and statistics
  • Trace your graphs in 2D or 3D
  • Edit your final analysis/test reports and use HTML, CSS, or Python to customize them.

All this by simple ” point-and-click “, with no programming required, and in an intuitive way.

An easy-to-use, customizable interface

Origin offers an intuitive interface, enhanced by the Origin Central assistant for easy navigation through your projects. Numerous tutorials, sample projects and an application exchange platform are available to optimize your productivity. The interface integrates a dark mode, customizable themes and context-sensitive mini-toolbars, making it easy to customize your graphics. What’s more, floating windows ensure optimum workspace management, especially when working with multiple screens.

Numerous data analysis tools

Origin offers a wide range of data analysis tools (curve and area fitting, peak analysis, interpolation, signal processing, derivatives) and statistics (descriptive, ANOVA, parametric and non-parametric tests, multivariate analysis, power and sample size calculations, survival analysis and ROC curves).

Each analysis is accompanied by a report that summarizes parameters and organizes your results. In addition, you have access to the entire NAG Mark 25 library (latest version) via Origin C functions (integrated programming language).

Opt for a wide selection of publication-quality graphics

With more than 100 types of graphics built in, Origin makes it easy to create and customize your visualizations and give you optimal publication-quality results. Powerful tools allow you to easily manipulate and customize your charts.

Many types of graphs are available such as histograms, pie charts, waterfalls, radars, parametric graphs, polar coordinate graphs, area curves, profile curves, iso line maps, thermal maps, field graphs, Pareto graphs, with multiple vertical axes or multiple sections, in 2D or 3D, or statistical graphs.

Automate repetitive tasks via scripts

With or without programming, Origin allows you to create import filters, import multiple files simultaneously, and add scripts after import that can be saved and reused. The same is true for analysis, data processing and graphics, whose styles and properties can be saved and reused at will.

To take it a step further, Origin includes two built-in programming languages : Origin C, a C-compatible language, and the interpreted LabTalk™ programming language. It also has a real development environment, the Code Builder, to code and debug its scripts.

Having a large library of scalable applications

Origin offers an application exchange platform, powered by users and the OriginLab team itself, to make available to as many people as possible tools developed around Origin.

Available directly from Origin, you can install and test these applications that will simplify your work. Listening to users, OriginLab regularly develops new applications to meet their specific needs.

Compatible with your other tools

Connect your other tools to Origin: Matlab™, LabView™ or Microsoft© Excel. Query Origin from these tools to get the most out of each. You can also create your own processing routines in Origin C or LabTalk, integrating your Python or R codes.

Work on large datasets

Origin allows you to connect to your databases via ODBC, ADO connectors or import very large test datasets. Once imported, this data will be able to be visualized, explored, analyzed, in a simplified way, with dynamic tools.

What’s new in Origin 2025

The Origin 2025 version offers you numerous enhancements and new features to enrich and simplify your daily life, including:

  • Slicer: Data filtering on graphs: Explore and compare your data directly from the graphs using filters applied at page, layer or plot level. These filters can be adjusted via a dedicated panel, without modifying the source data.
  • Recent Files Browser: Simplified access to recent projects and files, with options to search by keyword, open multiple files simultaneously or customize the recent projects menu.
  • Support for time series pivots: Group and summarize your data by defined periods (hours, days, months, years, etc.), with support for fiscal years and customized calculations.
  • Customize report and chart styles: quickly apply predefined or customized styles to your report sheets and charts, at project or folder level.
  • Preview in Notes window: A side-by-side view of source code and rendering let you work efficiently, with preview and detach options on a second screen.
  • New batch processing interface: An interactive dialog let you create a summary sheet for batch analysis, with dynamic links to cells, labels or graphs.
  • New chart types:
